What a week!
As I am sure you are aware, this week we have had a VERY special visitor in school. She has really enjoyed looking at our wonderful learning and the Year 2 children have really done our school proud. You are all superstars! 😊
In amongst a very busy week, we have been continuing with some Christmas show practice. It is almost SHOWTIME! I know that all of the teachers are feeling incredibly proud of the children, as they are all working so hard. It is so wonderful to see all of the performances coming together! A huge thank you for bringing in all of the amazing costumes – they will look amazing on stage! We will hopefully see lots of you in the audience, but do not worry if you are unable to make it, the show will be posted on Google Classroom or on the website. So please remember your big, LOUD voices and huge, cheesy grins for Monday!
Christmas show timings (Monday 2nd):
Squirrel Class – 9:15am
Mole Class – 2:15pm
Plays will be around 30 mins long.
Wonderful Christmas choirrrr, wonderful Christmas choirrrr! You were amazing performing at Fleet Festivities on Wednesday evening. You definitely made us all really proud. Thank you to everyone who came to wave, support and to boogie along with us!
In our English lessons this week, we have been proof reading and editing our postcards that we wrote last week. Sonny the meerkat had written some postcards where the children needed to spot his mistakes. They absolutely loved all becoming teachers during these lessons… Mrs Gadd and I may need to order some more marking pens for the children (then we will be able to sit in the corner of the classroom with a cup of tea! Yippee!)
This week in maths, we have been using tens frames to add 3 single-digit numbers. The children needed to add 2 parts together first and then add the final part. They wrote the number sentences to match.
For example:
4 + 3 + 3
3 + 3 = 6
6 + 4 = 10
Next week, we will be introducing the concept of ‘bridging’. This is a method that many people use (possibly without realising it!) to add numbers mentally. This mathematical strategy involves children using their number bonds to 10 as a base to work out number sentences where the answer is over 10.
On Monday and Tuesday, Year 2 were lucky enough to have a special visitor. A huge thank you to Sarah from the SCARF for coming in to teach us our health and wellbeing. The children loved being in the calming tent with all of the fairy lights!
Thank you for all of the raffle ticket money that has been coming through! On Sunday, we have the Jingle Bell Brunch which has been organised by our lovely TAFF team. Hopefully lots of you will have booked your tickets for this event and we hope to see lots of you there!
