Is it too late to say Happy New Year?

In my humble opinion it is now too late. I think I have wished Happy New Year to the world and her husband but if I have missed you off then Happy New Year. Who knows what will happen this year but whatever it does bring, we will all just have to get on with it and hopefully have fun along the way. I am almost at the end of my second week back and I must say it is like I have never been away. It is still pizza on Wednesday and no two days are the same. Everyone … Read more

Bumblebee Class – Christmas DT

We spent Thursday designing, making and evaluating a Christmas pop-up scene. To make the pop-up, we each made a concertina spring mechanism which the children loved! The children followed their designs very closely and the end results were fabulous! Well done Year 1! Mrs Ford 😄

Pantomime

All the children enjoyed walking to the Harlington Centre to watch Cinderella. Great performance, Miss Heafford!

Mole Class – Peacock Feathers

‘This week, the children have loved looking at peacock feathers as part of their art learning. They were developing their sketching skills and needed to look carefully at the details on the feathers. After sketching their feather, the children carefully used watercolours over the top to bring their peacock feather to life!’ (Miss Heafford)

Mole Class – Mandir

In our RE learning, Mole class have been learning about special places. We have been focussing on Hinduism and learning all about a special place, called a Mandir. We had an amazing time learning about the main features of a Mandir and creating them around our classroom. I wonder if you can tell your grown ups about the different features of a Mandir. (Miss Heafford)

Mole Class – English Lesson

In our English lesson today, Mole class transformed into the role of Sonny the meerkat. He is the main character in the book ‘Meerkat Mail’, that we have been looking at in our English lessons (following our visit from his cousins Crackle and Pop last week!). They worked in partners to create a news report about Sonny’s trip to Fleet. Wow! What an amazing time Sonny had on his travels and what incredible news reporters we have in the class too! (Miss Heafford)

Thursday

The leaves are definitely falling from the trees and Mr C is doing a marvellous job of keeping the site clear. If you would like a bag of leaves for your own garden please help yourself. Actually you can have as many bags as you like because we are always happy to share. We also have a really good autumn song called Crunching Through The Leaves and if you’d like the words so you can sing on your way to school just ask. I love this time of year even though I wish it would make up it’s mind so … Read more

FRIDAY

I really feel like I have lived at school this week and I have only cooked once at home. Thank goodness for lovely school lunches, meal deals and takeaway establishments because they have kept me going! An important part of my job is being accountable and not only did I have a governors meeting and governor training, I also a visit from my lovely school inspector on Thursday which is why I wasn’t at either gate. This was the first time she and I had worked together and it was honestly a pleasure. We laughed. I was so proud to … Read more

Not Monday

Yesterday was a funny old day because I had a Fleet Heads meeting from 8am and after a debrief with Mrs J and the lovely ladies in the office my day was very bitty with lots of important things but I didn’t find time to blog as well. Actually I forgot about my blog until I got home then decided it could wait until today. I am sure that everyone had far better things to do with their time than read my ramblings on a Monday evening. A big decision at the moment is heating on or heating off. I … Read more

Harvest Festival

Many thanks for your generous donations for the Hart Foodbank. There were 71 bags in total.

LAST MONDAY IN SEPTEMBER

This is going to be quite a quick blog this week because I do need to dash off tonight. If you have read my blogs thus far you will know that I can easily go off at a tangent and ramble on about anything and everything so I am going to stick to the point. The Key Stage 1 children have just completed a survey which asks them about feeling happy and safe in school amongst other things including have they heard staff talking about Achieving Happily Together. Considering the number of times that I mention our short, succinct and … Read more

MONDAY EVENING

Good evening one and all. I am still at my desk because tonight is a Governors meeting and there is no point me going home. I think if I went home I wouldn’t come back! 😂 Please don’t think that I don’t enjoy the meetings but once I cross my threshold I am quite reluctant to cross back over into the world beyond. My instinct is to have a shower, get my night attire on, put my curlers in my hair and settle in front of the TV. You will be pleased to hear I am still in my frock … Read more

MONDAY AGAIN

What a beautiful weekend wasn’t it. I was able to sit outside with my brew and listen to The Archers on Sunday morning whilst Mr O was out on his walk. You will be pleased to hear he did find his way back but I do live in hope that one day… On Saturday I went up to London with my only child to watch Hades Town again as part of her birthday treat. Even though I lived and worked in London in my younger years I am not a fan of all the people now. It wasn’t as busy … Read more

Monday

As always time flies when you are having fun doesn’t it and today is the second Monday back for teaching staff. Our new Year R children have their first unaccompanied visit and start full time on Wednesday. No doubt it will be like getting wasps into a jar to start off with but they will soon get into the routine of school life and it will all become second nature. If this is your first child starting big school you too will need to get used the new routines and it is emotional to begin with. I still cry when … Read more
