This is going to be a quick blog this week so that everyone can get on with enjoying life and not looking at a screen. It is of course Mother’s Day on Sunday and in school we talked about Mother’s and Others’ Day because there are so many different types of families, and people we might want to thank for looking after us so well. You will be pleased to hear that your children said they say thank you to you by helping you out at home in lots of different ways. Well done to the lovely mum who has … Read more
What an absolutely glorious day. I had to take my coat off because I was in such a sunny spot this morning. I have so much to be grateful for and my cup definitely felt full this morning. There is a lot in the news and on TV about covid at the moment and it is hard to believe that we are coming up to 5 years since the first lockdown. When the announcement came in 2020 I had a couple of minutes thinking that school would be locked down too then we heard that we would be open to … Read more
This morning a scientist came to visit the Year 2 children. She demonstrated some experiments, including making a ‘volcano’, chatted about which materials are better for the environment, and told them about a few extraordinary inventions made by children. One of these was about a six year old boy from Hampshire, who collected more than 2,500 confectionery tubs from landfill to make outdoor furniture including benches.
What a day of using our pure imaginationnnnn…! After our dance workshop, we continued with our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme and the children designed their own chocolate bar. This afternoon, the Moles loved bringing their ideas to life with all sorts of craft materials. Their final products ended up looking good enough to eat! To finish a fun-packed day, the children had a go at advertising their chocolate bar… There were just too many delicious ones to choose from! (Miss Heafford)
Photos and videos will be added over the next couple of days.
It has been one of those weeks where I haven’t been as visible outside but I have been here honestly. It is such a lovely part of my day saying good morning to everyone that I really do miss it. Sometimes though I am plugged into my laptop and cannot move, on a training course or helping out inside because staff are poorly. The sun has emerged but it seems to have brought temperatures and germs. There is always something going round in school isn’t there. Year R had their first trip on a coach to Wellington Country Park and … Read more

Life is a bit up and down at the moment and my emotions are all over the place. On the one hand I am so excited because I am going to be a grandma to a beautiful baby boy on or about the 8th September 2025. Actually he looks a bit odd rather than beautiful at the moment because I have only seen a scan thus far. On the other hand I am really not myself and whilst I know things always get better, I’m not there yet. Please don’t worry that your children are in any danger because they … Read more
The solar systems homework projects were amazing and have made lovely displays around the classrooms, thank you so much for supporting your child with this. They were all so creative and it was amazing to see the children speaking about their project with such enthusiasm and sense of pride. (Miss Heafford)
That’s what I had for lunch today but Mrs Chalcraft very kindly gave me fish fingers too just so I could make sure that the children were having a lovely lunch and indeed they were. My lunch date children were very chatty today and one little girl was telling me all about the excitement of having a new puppy and how it is breaking most things. The other young chap wished me a lovely rest of lunch time because he finished before me. What a polite young man. Today was certificate assembly as it is every Friday. A mixture of … Read more
This morning all year groups enjoyed the Safer Internet workshops and learnt a lot of important information about keeping safe online. Thank you, OpenView Education.
A lovely little boy gave me a great big hug when he arrived at school this week but when I looked at him I saw he had a very interesting nose. Being me, I squealed that I hoped he hadn’t got snot on my cardigan and offered him a tissue. The cardigan was green so nothing would have shown up but that wasn’t the point. He said thank you for the tissue then proceeded to wipe the snot across his face rather than blow. His mum and I did giggle and she proceeded to do an amazing wipe and he … Read more
For their homework Year 1 children were asked to create a dinosaur and bring it into school on Tuesday 21 January for Year 1 Dinosaur in School Day. Here are a few of the amazing creations….. and on Friday Bumblebee Class used Bee-bots and Ipads in their Computing lesson.
In my humble opinion it is now too late. I think I have wished Happy New Year to the world and her husband but if I have missed you off then Happy New Year. Who knows what will happen this year but whatever it does bring, we will all just have to get on with it and hopefully have fun along the way. I am almost at the end of my second week back and I must say it is like I have never been away. It is still pizza on Wednesday and no two days are the same. Everyone … Read more
We spent Thursday designing, making and evaluating a Christmas pop-up scene. To make the pop-up, we each made a concertina spring mechanism which the children loved! The children followed their designs very closely and the end results were fabulous! Well done Year 1! Mrs Ford
All the children enjoyed walking to the Harlington Centre to watch Cinderella. Great performance, Miss Heafford!
‘What a wonderfully festive time we’ve had in Mole Class!’ (Miss Heafford)
Planting bulbs in Squirrel Class’s flower bed.
‘This afternoon, Mole Class have loved going out to our school garden. We were busy planting lots of different bulbs in our class flower bed and can’t wait to see them come up in the spring time!’ (Miss Heafford)
‘This week, the children have loved looking at peacock feathers as part of their art learning. They were developing their sketching skills and needed to look carefully at the details on the feathers. After sketching their feather, the children carefully used watercolours over the top to bring their peacock feather to life!’ (Miss Heafford)
The closing date has been extended for another week.
Well done, Year 2 choir, you sang beautifully. (Thanks to Mrs Pritchard for the video)
Rehearsing for their performance at the Fleet Festivities.
All the children took part in the SCARF mental wellbeing workshops.
Anti-bullying assembly for all children today with Emily from OpenView Education Photos of workshops to follow
In our RE learning, Mole class have been learning about special places. We have been focussing on Hinduism and learning all about a special place, called a Mandir. We had an amazing time learning about the main features of a Mandir and creating them around our classroom. I wonder if you can tell your grown ups about the different features of a Mandir. (Miss Heafford)
In our English lesson today, Mole class transformed into the role of Sonny the meerkat. He is the main character in the book ‘Meerkat Mail’, that we have been looking at in our English lessons (following our visit from his cousins Crackle and Pop last week!). They worked in partners to create a news report about Sonny’s trip to Fleet. Wow! What an amazing time Sonny had on his travels and what incredible news reporters we have in the class too! (Miss Heafford)

The leaves are definitely falling from the trees and Mr C is doing a marvellous job of keeping the site clear. If you would like a bag of leaves for your own garden please help yourself. Actually you can have as many bags as you like because we are always happy to share. We also have a really good autumn song called Crunching Through The Leaves and if you’d like the words so you can sing on your way to school just ask. I love this time of year even though I wish it would make up it’s mind so … Read more
