I think we just finished Week 4…

Hi everyone, this term seems to be just flying by, despite January always seeming like a never-ending month. Very strange indeed. However, we are now in February and spring is just around the corner.

As ever, we have been busy in Year 2. In English, we have been dreaming up new characters and planning for our own written story about Toys in Space. We are looking forward to beginning them on Monday and pencils are sharpened in readiness. In maths we have adding a 2 digit number to another 2 digit number using a whole range of skills and steps, including number bond knowledge and bridging to the next 10 and beyond. The children have done incredibly well and this coming week we will do it all again with subtraction!

In topic , we have been learning about and painting in the style of artist David Michalcyz. The children enjoyed mixing and blending the colours to get an exact match. We have also been carrying on the history learning based on The first moon landing and thinking about what it must have felt like to be Neil Armstrong.

Our lovely students from Winchester are doing well and really getting to grips with the classes and teaching, and are doing a little more each week. There is a lot for them to deal with and both Miss Heafford and I are really proud of them so far.

Next week we have an internet safety workshop to look forward to on Thursday and The Sing from the Hart Choir will be meeting again for another rehearsal. Please continue to learn the chorus at home as we will soon be given new songs to learn!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Kind regards

The Year 2 Team
