Giants in School
What a fun and busy week we have had here in Year 1! We kicked started our week with a fun and interactive dinosaur workshop. The children absolutely loved searching for fossils and identifying different dinosaur bones. If you haven’t seen them already, there are some photos on the school website. Then we had our busy and jammed packed Giant in School day! The children were absolutely full of it and loved making their Easter baskets in the afternoon. Thank you to all those who attended and gave up your time – it means the absolute world to the children.
I can’t quite believe we have reached the end of the spring term, soon to be heading into the summer one. What a crazy year it’s been so far and we have only just reached the beginning of April! On behalf of the entire Year 1 team, we would just like to thank you all for your support. We are so lucky to have such wonderful children and parents who have made this year easier for us. We are so grateful – THANK YOU!
A personal thank you from me – as I head off to have a baby next week, I will be passing the blog over to the lovely Mrs Manoharan and Miss Sheppard who will be taking it in turns to fill you in on what is happening in class. I have absolutely loved teaching Bumblebee Class this year and getting to know the children, they are all truly amazing. I will of course be back doing the school drop off and pick up myself at some point so please do come and say hello!
This week, in our RE, we have been learning about the Christian celebration of Easter. The topic itself is called “Welcoming” and we have learnt why and how Jesus was welcomed to the city of Jerusalem. We looked at why Christians celebrate Easter and use a palm cross to remember part of his story. We then learnt about the Easter story itself and rounded off the week with making a few Easter themed creations.
Just a few reminders:
- Please make sure all your child’s belongings are labelled. Things do go missing and I’m convinced there is a black hole somewhere in the school that sucks them in and they never come back.
- Please send your child’s water bottle and book bag into school every day.
- PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE – Our Year 1 PE day is now on a Monday for Bumblebee Class and Tuesday for Hedgehog Class.
- Reading books in school are changed once a week and this will be every Monday. The books will be collected in in the morning and a new one will be issued that same afternoon.
- Library book change will be on a Friday.
