Getting ready to welcome the GIANTS!
One more week to go until chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and lie ins! I’m an early riser even in the holidays but I always look forward to a slower start during the holidays!
What a wonderful week we have had! On Tuesday, the Year 2 Sing from the Hart choir had a very exciting visitor… Ben, the musical director of the event! Oooo! The children have been so excited to meet him since starting their rehearsals. He loved listening to the children singing the songs that they have been learning and they even bought a tear to Mrs O’Connor’s eyes! They were given lots of helpful tips and tricks from Ben and he emphasized the importance of smiling until their eyes twinkle
Our lovely TAFF team did another amazing job at organising a Mother’s and Others Day plant sale. The children loved visiting the shop and were so excited when they came back with their goodies!
In maths, we have been revisiting division. The children have been using arrays to show the equal sharing out. Later on in the week, the children were using arrays, as well as number lines, to introduce remainders. They explored the inverse relationship between division and multiplication.
In English, the children have been writing up their waterfall books that they have been working so hard on for the last few week. It was amazing to see the children take such pride in their non-chron report and to be so supportive of others. The children should be so proud of themselves! A special THANK YOU to the lovely Mole mummy who spent the time making up the waterfall booklets – it was like 60 pieces of intricate origami!
Next week… times tables continue. The test will be consolidate the times tables that they have been learning so far, the children will have 13 random questions (a mixture of both 2x and x2).
Next Wednesday is also Giants in School Day and we are looking forward to welcoming you all into the classroom. More information about this was recently sent out as a ParentMail. In Year 2, you will be working with your child and others to create a moon buggy. We will be designing and making in the morning, and testing and evaluating in the afternoon. Please bring any resources/materials that you would like to use for your buggy in on this day. On Tuesday, we will be looking at the wheels and axels mechanism so if you have a toy which includes this mechanism, please bring it in to investigate.
That’s it for now! Have an amazing weekend and remember to spread smiles like confetti
