FRITTATATATATATATATA

That’s what I had for lunch today but Mrs Chalcraft very kindly gave me fish fingers too just so I could make sure that the children were having a lovely lunch and indeed they were. My lunch date children were very chatty today and one little girl was telling me all about the excitement of having a new puppy and how it is breaking most things. The other young chap wished me a lovely rest of lunch time because he finished before me. What a polite young man.

Today was certificate assembly as it is every Friday. A mixture of children came to the front to collect their certificates and again had lovely manners. I don’t actually let go of the certificate until they thank you so sometimes it can be a long wait if anyone forgets! As always, we had a mixture of reading certificates and certificates for being a good learner amongst others. We always like to add up the total number of times the children have read and then clap the number. Today the total was 1020 so we left assembly about 12.15 ready for lunch.

Did you have frittatatatata when you were at school? A lovely northern dad and I were laughing that it would be called potato where we hail from. Everything came with a potato when I was at school and at home to be honest but we sometimes had broth which had barley, not potatoes. Fish and chips came from the chip van on St Peter’s Street which was always welcome because my mum wasn’t the best cook. BUT if you went to Grandma Eubank’s for tea (dinner to you) you would be in for a veritable feast. It was actually Grandad Jimmy who cooked but you always thanked Grandma because she supervised. Those were the days.

Another trip down memory lane this morning was to Southport which another lovely dad said he used to visit and go out in with his lovely wife to be. He and his fellow dad friend were talking about golf courses and I piped up that there was a really good crazy golf in Southport. Plus there is Royal Birkdale. We both had very good memories of Silcocks chips and I updated him on the fact that I had only just found out that the pier had been shut for TWO YEARS! In his words Southport was a bit rough now but the happy memories will last forever. I must have a little trip in the summer holidays because the slots are the best in the world. I’m sorry you can keep Las Vegas; it will always be Southport for me.

You have reached the end now and won’t get the time back that you spent reading this blog. You may feel it was wasted time because I haven’t said an awful lot but you might be reminiscing about the meals you ate as a child and the seaside places you visited. I bet you any money that you will look back fondly and even laugh about the dire food you ate and the sand in your sandwiches.

Have a wonderful weekend and one week to go until half term.
