FRIDAY

I really feel like I have lived at school this week and I have only cooked once at home. Thank goodness for lovely school lunches, meal deals and takeaway establishments because they have kept me going!

An important part of my job is being accountable and not only did I have a governors meeting and governor training, I also a visit from my lovely school inspector on Thursday which is why I wasn’t at either gate. This was the first time she and I had worked together and it was honestly a pleasure. We laughed. I was so proud to show her round school and see Tavistock in action. Our professional discussions were really useful. Then we laughed some more. They do say laughter is the best medicine and it certainly gets me through many a situation. In fact when I filled in a questionnaire to find out about my character strengths humour was number 1 and kindness number 2. Bless me.

I imagine that our lovely new year r parents will not be able to believe that their children have been in school almost half a term. They have settled so well and even though there still may be an odd tear, to see them with their friends both old and new is just delightful. My inspector was really impressed to see two children working together to rescue a baby worm on a leaf yesterday. She wasn’t quite sure where mummy worm was but at least baby worm was safe. She was equally impressed to see a group of girls using paper towels to wipe off the trim trail bars and then realising they could use them to help them grip on to the bar. When asked if a grown up had sent them to get the paper towels they very earnestly said that no, they had thought of that themselves. The future is bright, the future is orange, especially if we have problem solvers at such a young age.

Don’t forget that we have an INSET day next Friday so we will be handing your children back to you a day early. Before we break up though we do have our parent meetings and our offering of either in person or virtual has been well received and there are hardly any spaces left at all. For those attending in person it is like a night out so if you do have a sitter booked, make the most of it and saunter back home or even pop in to Fleet. I intend to pop nowhere this weekend but I will see everyone on Monday.
